A deputy reported a suspect was driving over 100 mph.
ALEXANDRIA — Two people were hospitalized and two drivers face drunk driving charges and fleeing police in two separate incidents on Saturday, March 1 on Interstate 94 near Alexandria. Shortly before 8 pm. Douglas County sheriff's deputies responded to I-94 for a driving complaint. A caller reported a driver of a white Subaru was driving dangerously near milemarker 115 going west, according to a news release. Dispatch received a second 911 call about the same vehicle still driving dangerously near milemarker 108. A deputy reported the suspect was driving over 100 mph. Because of the high speeds, it took time for the deputy to get close enough to attempt a stop, the news release said. As the suspect's vehicle was passing the milemarker 103 exit, dispatch received more 911 calls of a crash occurring at the mile marker 103 I-94 ramp. It was reported a white vehicle was involved. Based on the information received, the sheriff's office thought the driving complaint was possibly the reason for the crash. The deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the white Subaru west of milemarker 103. A short pursuit ensued before the driver came to a stop. The driver was identified as Noah M. Price, 27, of Eagan, who was arrested for several charges including driving while intoxicated. As the pursuit was happening, several units responded to the crash scene. It was determined the crash was unrelated to the driving complaint and had almost simultaneously occurred as the driving complaint was passing near the location. This crash occurred on State Highway 29 at the I-94 westbound entrance ramp intersection. Two vehicles were involved in the crash. Deputies learned one driver had fled the scene. A search was conducted and the fleeing driver, Anthony L. Wissmiller, 69, of Dubuque, Iowa, was located by a deputy north of the scene. Wissmiller was arrested for several charges including driving while intoxicated and criminal vehicular operation. There were two injured in the second vehicle. Both were taken to Alomere Hospital in Alexandria and are being treated for serious injuries. The names of the victims are being held pending notifications. The sheriff's office was assisted by the Minnesota State Patrol, Alexandria Police Department and North Ambulance. The cases remain under investigation.
