Albuquerque Public Schools has started a voluntary dismissal for select schools in the East Mountains.

According to APS, students at A. Montoya Elementary, San Antonito Elementary and Roosevelt Middle School can be picked up by parents or guardians.

APS says students can remain at school for the duration of the day.

APS also says there will be a 2-hour delay for Friday.

The early dismissal comes after PNM instituted a public safety power outage in the East Mountains on Thursday.

Strong winds and blowing dust are expected to continue throughout the day.
