The Alexandria boys basketball team has won the last two Section 8-3A titles and finished the 2024-25 regular season 12-0 in Section 8-3A games (23-3 overall).

Alexandria, ranked No. 2 in Class 3A, is the No. 1 seed in the 2025 Section 8-3A Tournament and hosts the No. 8 seed Little Falls (4-22) at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.

The winner of the Alexandria/Little Falls game faces either the No. 4 seed Detroit Lakes (13-12) or the No. 5 seed Willmar (9-17) at 7 p.m. on Friday at the high seed. On the other side of the bracket, Fergus Falls (19-7) is the No. 2 seed and faces the No. 7 seed St. Cloud Tech (4-22) on Tuesday, while St. Cloud Apollo (14-12) is the No. 3 seed and hosts the No. 6 seed ROCORI (8-18).

The Section 8-3A Championship game is set for 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at a location that is yet to be determined.

Knights seeded No. 1 in Section 6A-South



The defending Section 6A champion, the West Central Area boys basketball team (18-8), is the No. 1 seed of the south sub-section of Section 6A. WCA hosts the winner of Monday’s game between the No. 9 seed Ashby (8-17) and the No. 8 seed Parkers Prairie (10-16) at 7 p.m. on Thursday. Parkers Prairie hosts Ashby at 7 p.m. on Monday.

Brandon-Evansville (13-13) is the No. 4 seed in the south sub-section and hosts the No. 5 seed Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa (10-16) at 7 p.m. on Thursday. The winner of the B-E/B-B-E game faces WCA, Parkers Prairie, or Ashby in the sub-section semifinals at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Minnewaska High School.

Border West (20-6) is the No. 2 seed in the sub-section, while Hancock (14-12) is the No. 3 seed, Benson (16-10) is the No. 6 seed, Breckenridge (4-22) the No. 7 seed, Ortonville (5-20) is the No. 10 seed.

The sub-section final is at 7 p.m. on March 12, 2025.

In the north sub-section, Ada-Borup-West (22-5) is the No. 1 seed, while Park Christian (22-4) is the No. 2 seed, Henning (23-3) is the No. 3 seed, Hillcrest Lutheran Academy (20-6) is the No. 4 seed, Frazee (11-14) is the No. 5 seed. Underwood (13-13) is the No. 6 seed, Norman County East/U-H (12-14) is the No. 7 seed, Rothsay (13-12) is the No. 8 seed, Lake Park-Audubon (7-19) is the No. 9 seed, New York Mills (8-18) is the No. 10 seed, and Battle Lake (2-23) is the No. 11 seed.

The Section 6A Championship game is set for 6 p.m. on March 14 at the Concordia Fieldhouse in Moorhead.

Osakis gets No. 8 seed in Section 6-2A



The Osakis boys basketball team (18-8) is the No. 8 seed in the Section 6-2A Tournament and hosts the No. 9 seed Legacy Christian (17-9) at 7 p.m. on Thursday. Osakis beat Legacy Christian 64-63 on an Austin Dickinson buzzer beater at the Breakdown’s Winter Lakes Classic on Feb. 15, 2025, at Alexandria High School.

The winner of Thursday’s game faces either the No. 1 seed Albany (25-0) or No. 16 seed Rush City (6-19) at 1 p.m. on Saturday at St. John’s University.

On Thursday, the No. 4 seed Holdingford (23-3) hosts the No. 13 seed Milaca (6-19). St. Cloud Cathedral is the No. 5 seed and hosts the No. 12 seed Foley (10-15). The No. 2 seed Mora (25-1) hosts the No. 15 seed Royalton (8-18), and the No. 7 seed Spectrum (19-7) hosts the No. 10 seed Kimball Area (16-10). The No. 3 Sauk Centre (17-9) hosts the No. 14 seed Pine City (9-17), while the No. 6 seed Annandale (16-10) hosts the No. 11 seed Melrose (7-19).

The Section 6-2A semifinals are on March 12, at St. John’s University and the section championship game is at 6 p.m. on March 14 at St. Cloud State University.
