T he Kansas City Chiefs will conclude their Organized Team Activities (OTA) this week with four final practices , which began last Tuesday, June 10. With the start of this session, the team will enter the most critical time of the preseason. From mandatory minicamp to the deadline to extend RG Trey Smith's contract during the preseason and roster cuts .

It is worth noting that Monday, July 16 is the deadline for the club to withdraw the highest qualifying offer to restricted free agents and still retain exclusive negotiating rights by substituting it with a lower one-year contract offer. This is unlikely to apply to the Chiefs this year, although both DB Nazeeh Johnson and LB Jack Cochrane received the first-preference free agent offer ($3.3 million non-guaranteed).

When will the Kansas City Chiefs' mandatory minicamp begin?

Beginning on Tuesday, June 17, the Chiefs will hold their first mandatory workouts of the preseason. The 91 players on the preseason roster should be in attendance, unless Kansas City finds itself in a contract suspension situation. The NFL eliminated the possibility of waiving fines for absent players who are not on their rookie contract. If Trey Smith, for example, misses mandatory minicamp during any period (a contract suspension, not a suspension), he would be subject to the following fines.

Meanwhile, stellar players and rookies in every position for the Kansas City Chiefs will be present at training camp from July to August 26 . The AFC champions have yet to officially announce the dates, but rookies and quarterbacks are expected to report around Tuesday, July 15 , with the first practice session open to the public around Saturday, July 19 or Sunday, July 20.
