Colorado, you should be proud!

Colorado ranked No. 7 in charitable giving and No. 22 in volunteer hours, with an overall ranking of No. 10 of the most giving states in the United States. 

WalletHub reported a detailed study on charitable giving and volunteer hours, by individual states. WalletHub crunched all the numbers and consolidated trends in its summary report. 

The report by WalletHub ranked each state in the United States with Utah, Minnesota, and Maryland ranking top one, two, and three, respectively. The report compared annual millennial volunteering by state from 2011 to 2015. It also compared generosity among political parties, with blue states being more generous than red states.  

The United States, as reported by the World Giving Index, is ranked at the top as the most charitable country in the world over the last 10 years. A reported 61-percent of Americans donate money to charitable causes, giving a total of $450 billion in 2019. Americans also give generously of their time. The United States ranked fifth in the percentage of people (42 percent) volunteering time to help others. Seventy-two percent of Americans reported having helped a stranger who was in need.
