Market Madness in O.C.: Ocean City businesses will gather under one roof this weekend for the fourth annual Market Madness event, offering discounts and specials on local merchandise, brands and attractions. This year, the event will be held in the Ocean City Civic Center, just off the Boardwalk between Fifth and Sixth streets, with free parking next to the building off Fifth Street. Also new this year will be local food trucks. More than 40 vendors from the Boardwalk and downtown will participate, along with a live DJ and hourly giveaways. Hours for the event will be 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Cash payments are preferred, and shoppers are asked to bring their own bags.

"All Shook Up" at EHTHS: Egg Harbor Township High School will present "All Shook Up," the musical inspired by the songs of Elvis Presley, March 14-16. "All Shook Up" is set in 1950s small-town America and features Presley songs such as “Jailhouse Rock,” “Hound Dog,” “Burning Love” and “Can’t Help Falling in Love.” “This is more than a jukebox musical. It’s based on real classic literature that is taught in high schools. It has provided excellent opportunities for all of our students to shine backstage and on stage,” director Matthew Guenther said. The cast, crew and orchestra consist of more than 90 Egg Harbor Township High School students. Featured actors include Ethan Forman as Chad, Ruben Espinal as Dennis and Jeffrey Taylor as Dean Hyde. Production team members include technical director Kevin McCafferty, vocal director and sound specialist Richard Tinsley II, pit director Ben Fong, choreographer Nancy Portnoy, costumers Leslie Volpe and Jacquelyn McGinty, and producer Jason Kristeller. The Atlantic City Ballet will perform "Cinderella" this spring. Ballet announces shows: The Atlantic City Ballet will perform two shows this spring, "Carmina Burana" and "Cinderella." "We are incredibly excited to share this spring season with our community," said Phyllis Papa, artistic director of the ballet. "These two ballets represent the very best of ballet, from a cherished classic to a cutting-edge contemporary piece." "Carmina Burana" will be performed at 7:30 p.m. March 28 in Pfleeger Hall at Rowan University in Glassboro and at 7:30 p.m. March 29 at the Stockton University Performing Arts Center in Galloway Township. West Cape May tree giveaway: West Cape May homeowners are eligible to have a tree planted on their property this spring courtesy of the Borough’s Shade Tree Commission. The commission plants 10 to 15 trees each year on private and public property. The planting is funded by proceeds from the West Cape May Farmer’s Market and the borough's tomato and lima bean festivals. The trees will be professionally planted on the homeowner’s property. Homeowners are responsible for watering and caring for the tree after it is planted. All trees are three to six feet tall. Varieties available include red bud, yellowwood, dogwood, Eastern red cedar, American holly, red maple, sycamore, red oak, swamp white oak, willow oak and bald cypress. The last three species are suitable for wetter environments. Limit one tree per property. If you are interested in receiving a tree, email or fill out a request form at Borough Hall, 732 Broadway, by March 31. Include your name, address, phone number and the variety of tree requested. Homeowners will be contacted with planting details.
The Cape May County Park & Zoo will host an Earth Day celebration April 26. Zoo seeks Earth Day sponsors: The Cape May County Park & Zoo is seeking exhibitors and sponsors for its annual Earth Day celebration from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 26. Sponsors will be included in all promotional material, and their logos will be listed on a special T-shirt. All are welcome to set up table displays with information on your Earth-friendly company or offer an Earth-friendly educational display promoted by your business. The event will include hands-on educational exhibits, children’s amusements, live entertainment, a variety of environmental eco-shops and a scavenger hunt.
