A suspect was arrested in connection to a shooting that killed a man in Saline County on Sunday, authorities said. Saline County deputies were responding to a call on Terrace Drive about an unknown emergency around 7 p.m on Sunday when they found a man who had been fatally shot, a news release from the sheriff's office said Monday. The victim's identity was not immediately released, pending notification of his next-of-kin, said Lt. Justin Kirk, a spokesperson for the sheriff's office. Deputies said the suspect, 33-year-old Raul Maytorena of Illinois, had stolen a witness' vehicle and fled the scene. The Little Rock Police Department was able to find the vehicle and tried to initiate a stop, but a short pursuit began. After his vehicle wrecked, Maytorena was arrested. An online Saline County inmate roster listed Maytorena on Monday morning just after 10:30 a.m. He has been charged with first-degree murder, the roster showed. No bond amount was listed. The investigation is ongoing. Officials have asked that anyone with information about the shooting contact Detective Lindsey Bedsworth by calling (501) 303-5608.
