The Jacksonville Jaguars have reportedly agreed to terms with defensive back Eric Murray, according to NFL Media's Maurice-Jones Drew .

Per Jones-Drew, Murray is joining the Jaguars on a three-year, $22.5 million contract with $12 million in guaranteed money.

Murray, 30, is a nine-year veteran of the NFL. He was drafted in the fourth round with the 106th overall pick in the 2016 draft by the Kansas City Chiefs . After three years in Kansas City, he played one year in Cleveland, followed by five years for the Houston Texans .

Murray (5-11, 199 pounds) started 14 games for Houston last season, recording 75 tackles, 10 pass deflections and an interception as a safety for Jacksonville's AFC rival.

He's alternated between being a safety and corner throughout his career but he's seen the most success as a safety, recording 24 career pass deflections and three interceptions.

Jacksonville's safety situation is one of the biggest holes on the roster. Andre Cisco is a free agent, third-year player Antonio Johnson hasn't caught on the way the team wants, Andrew Wingard was injured for a majority of last season and Daniel Thomas is a special teams ace.

Darnell Savage was brought in by the last regime to play nickel but ended up playing safety as he battled a quad injury that kept him off the field.

Murray adds a starting caliber player to the mix who can fill the need as the team potentially drafts a future full-time starter in April.
