What was perceived as a child's active imagination before bedtime, turned out to be something much more horrifying.
Monsters aren't real, right? Well, a Kansas babysitter found a "monster" when the child she was caring for kept complaining one was under their bed. On Monday, at 10:30 p.m. local time, Barton County sheriff's deputies were dispatched to a residence in Great Bend, Kansas, 189 miles southwest of Topeka, Kansas, according to the Barton County Sheriff's Office. Once they arrived, the victim told the officers she was putting the children she was caring for to sleep when one of them began to complain about a "monster" lurking under their bed, according to a statement posted to the sheriff's office's
Facebook . When she checked, she found a man under the child's bed. The man, identified as 27-year-old Martin Villalobos Jr., used to live at the house, but a protection-from-abuse order was issued against him, which ordered that he stay away from the property, according to police. When she saw him, there was an altercation, and one of the children was knocked over before Villalobos fled the scene. Police searched, but could not find him at the scene of the residence. The next day, he was spotted in the area and attempted to flee, but was arrested after being chased by police on foot, according to the statement. He was charged with several felonies. Police did not state what his relationship with the children is. He is being held on a $500,000 bond.
