GAYLORD, Mich. – A man wanted in connection with a stabbing in Northern Michigan was arrested in Kansas over the weekend, police said.

Darryl Damien Fisher-Stubbs, 36, was taken into custody at 2 a.m. on Saturday, June 14, during a traffic stop in Seward County , Kansas, according to the Gaylord Police Department. He will be extradited to Otsego County.

The attack allegedly happened at the Timberly Motel at 881 S. Otsego Avenue in Gaylord on Friday, June 13, 2025.

Officers responded to a complaint at the motel at about 1 a.m. on Friday.

When they arrived, they discovered a 34-year-old Gaylord man with injuries from an edged weapon.

The victim was taken to a local hospital to be treated for his injuries, according to police. On Friday, police said he was stable.

During a preliminary investigation, authorities learned that the attack stemmed from an altercation between the suspect and the victim, who knew each other.

He allegedly fled the area after the attack and was taken into custody without incident in Kansas on Saturday.
