Four Central Florida men were sentenced to federal prison Tuesday for their involvement in a conspiracy that distributed nearly 200 pounds of cocaine, according to the Department of Justice. The drug distribution ring consisted of Israel Miranda, 36, of Kissimmee; Abiezer Laboy-Lozada, 36, of Orlando; Jorge Antonio Gonzalez de la Fuente, 31, of St. Cloud; and Carlos Antonio Garcia Garcia, 35, of Kissimmee, according to a news release Tuesday from DOJ. They all previously signed plea deals with prosecutors. Miranda and Laboy-Lozada were sentenced to 10 years in prison, Gonzalez de la Fuente was sentenced to seven years and three months while Garcia Garcia was sentenced to five years. The Drug Enforcement Administration first identified the group in 2022. DOJ said Miranda distributed drugs or drug proceeds reflecting distribution of more than 89 kilograms of cocaine or 196 pounds. In May 2023, Laboy-Lozada received cocaine in a parking lot from Miranda, some of the between 20 and 30 kilograms he would receive from him over the course of the operation. In October 2023, Miranda delivered an orange Nike shoebox containing a kilogram of cocaine to Gonzalez de la Fuente, who gave it to Garcia Garcia. Law enforcement officers found the shoebox when they stopped Garcia Garcia’s vehicle. In another incident in October 2023, Miranda delivered drug proceeds to an individual found to be transporting $262,257 in a brown paper bag and texted a conspirator an image of the stacks of cash he had with the message “should be 110k.” Law enforcement seized nearly $52,000 from Miranda in November and nearly $150,000 in March. The conspirators in total forfeited $464,000 seized during the case. One of the men, Gonzalez de la Fuente, would meet with the other conspirators two or three times a month and was involved in distributing between 15 and 50 kilograms of cocaine, the news release said. He even continued to distribute drugs after being charged and was subsequently detained.
