Will Hollensteiner did not lose an event Saturday. The Flathead junior sprinted and leaped his way to 5-for-5 day at the Archie Roe track meet at Legends Stadium. He started with a win in the field at the long jump, going past 21 feet before joining the Braves 400-meter relay team for a meet record time of 41.19 seconds with teammates Colin Smith, Lane Chivers and Ben Bliven — who also went unbeaten on the day with a 4-for-4 performance. The Braves broke the record they set a year ago. “Going into the 400 I was hoping to break 47 (seconds), but I got a PR in it and won,” Hollensteiner said. “Whenever I wasn’t doing an event I was out in our shed and drinking water. Kicking my feet up to get rid of all the lactic acid.” Then Hollensteiner set another meet best in the 400 with a Class AA-best 48.10, more than a second over the old record set in 2004 by Whitefish’s Cody Henning. Five records fell in total, all on the boys side. The afternoon brought the triple jump which he claimed with a jump of 44-5, and finally the long relay, which Hollensteiner anchored to a third meet record at 3:22.49 (Whitefish in 2004). Bliven joined both relays and claimed wins in the 100 and 200 meters with no records set — though he already owns both from 2024. In the team totals though, Glacier got the edge on Flathead with 126 points. Flathead finished second at 112.5, followed by Columbia Falls (78) and Missoula Hellgate (55). Ethan Anderson stepped up for the Wolfpack with a meet record and personal best in the 300 hurdles at 38.64, and a second place in the 110 hurdles. “I felt amazing actually, before the race usually I am a little nervous and my legs are a little fatigued because it’s the end of the day,” Anderson said. “Today I told my coach this is the best I have felt before a 300.” In the field, Glacier gathered wins in the shot put (Ben Winters, 52-6) and the pole vault (Cole Opre at 14-0). Columbia Falls’ Lane Voermans nabbed a win in the discus with a throw of 173-9.5, besting Glacier’s Dylan Smith, who had PR of 165-6. On the girls side, Hellgate earned the win at 104 points to best Glacier (90) and Flathead (67.5). Columbia Falls (47.25) edged Fort Benton (47) for fourth. The Wolfpack ladies took a win in the javelin with Charlotte Osler throwing 114-5, to beat out Thompson Falls Addyson Deal. “I threw decently today, it wasn’t my best compared to last week,” Osler said. “(The wind) can make it difficult if you lose your tip it hurts your angle, that happened to me on one of mine.” Lauren Bisson won the 800 for the Wolfpack with a personal best 2:21.01 ahead of teammate Dacia Benkelman, who also PR’d at 2:21.78. Benkelman set a new best in the triple jump enroute to a win at 34-7. The Wolfpack also got wins from Breanna Barnes in the pole vault at 10-6, she beat Columbia Falls’ Soli Bullemer on criteria. Flathead’s Alivia Rinehart took the 100 hurdles at 14.76 seconds then dominated the 300 hurdles with a 44.81, more than five seconds ahead of Cut Bank’s Jaycee Luse. “I think it was a solid race,” Rinehart said of the 300 hurdles. “I hit a lot of hurdles with my bad leg, my less strong leg, and I think that might have slowed me down a little, but I’m happy with the results.” She also claimed the 200 over Hellgate’s Sofia Szollosi in 25.41 seconds. Szollosi won the 100 at 12.52. Libby had a double winner on the girls side in freshman Capri Farmer in the 1,600 and 3,200. Farmer had some hot feet at the end of the latter both figuratively and literally. “I felt pretty good in the mile,” Farmer said. “The 3,200 was super hot, but I feel good with what I did. I definitely think I do a lot better when it is cooler out.” The athletes in AA and A got a good look at Legends Stadium with the State meet just three weeks away at the same venue. “It’s definitely nice because I can get a feel for the runway and all of the different factors that go into it” Osler said. Two more meets remain on Flathead’s schedule ahead of state with the Last Chance Quad Thursday at noon in Whitefish. The Bulldogs were notably absent from Archie Roe. The Western AA divisional is in Butte on May 16-17. The Pack next head to the Dr. Nicosia Cap Pack dual Thursday in Columbia Falls.
