ALEXANDRIA TWP., N.J. - The pilot is dead after a plane crashed in Hunterdon County, New Jersey Friday afternoon.

New Jersey State Police confirmed the crash. It happened in Alexandria Township.

An Alexandria Field Airport official said the pilot was the only one in the plane. The official said the crash happened near the airport.

Several units and agencies responded to the scene.
