Every second Friday night in Downtown Loveland is designated as "Night on the Town." And the next Night on the Town is this Friday, November 13. Take this opportunity to change out of your loungewear and dress warmly for an evening out. Walk the streets of Downtown Loveland to shop, take in a show, and enjoy dinner. Restaurants and shops have been known to have Night on the Town specials.
"Night on the Town is Downtown Loveland’s “night out” with many art galleries and businesses offering a ready welcome from 5 pm to 9 pm. There’s plenty of fine and casual dining, craft beer tasting rooms and retail shops to enjoy. You’ll find snacks, live music and sales in multiple locations, all part of an inviting atmosphere and hearty welcome from downtown businesses. It’s an opportunity to spend an evening with friends in our downtown."
As you're strolling along the beautifully lit streets, you can shop for unique women's clothing and artisan jewelry at Cloz to Home, And be sure to check out the selection of vinyl and guitars at Downtown Sound.
Not sure where to eat? Check out the beignets at Betta Gumbo, the poorhouse cognac chicken at Pourhouse Bar & Grill, or the sourdough burger at Henry's Pub. Top off your meal with a sweet treat from Starlight Dessert Bar.
As an ongoing event showcasing Downtown Loveland, Night on the Town activities can change periodically. Look for pop-up sales, sidewalk art, or pedicabs in summer, or horse carriage rides, hot chocolate, or the annual Festival of Lights in winter.
A newer addition near the Foundry in Downtown Loveland is Axe to Grind, a sports bar featuring axe throwing. Combine your competitive nature with a fun and friendly atmosphere to create memories that will last for years.
Loveland is known for its art appreciation. Sculptures along 4th Street (between Jefferson Avenue and Garfield Avenue) change annually. The sculptures are part of the City of Loveland’s “The Art Advocacy Project” (TAAP). It’s an easy-to-enjoy outdoor art exhibit!
The historic Rialto Theater Center is showing the classic film, Citizen Kane, on Friday, November 13. Tickets are only $3 per person, and the show begins promptly at 7 p.m.
Loveland Museum Gallery
Friday, November 13, the Loveland Museum is offering free admission to the art and history exhibits in the Dunning, Foote, Green Room, Mezzanine, and 12 Ft of Wall galleries. According to the museum's website, here are the current exhibits:
Bonnie Lebesch: Gun Show (Green Room; Through January 23, 2021)
Colorado artist Bonnie Lebesch weaves personal, historical, and contemporary gun stories into hand-stitched objects. The idea for this project stemmed from her father’s comparison between their contrary relationships to guns and the arts. Reproduced life-sized, the work is a prayerful meditation, similar to reciting mantras or using rosary or prayer beads. This series embodies the sacredness of ritual work through repetition, promise, and loving devotion towards the healing of deep, old wounds.
David Hobbs (12' of Wall; Through January 30, 2021)
Loveland artist David Hobbs creates woodcut paintings with intricate, colorful surrealistic designs. His unique approach starts with a wood cutout that he then paints and refines. His work is multi-sensory and his compositions multi-dimensional. The subject matter ranges from beautiful floral-inspired paintings to dreamlike evocations, with sometimes fearsome characters that are incongruously sweet and engaging. Hobbs’ modern folk art straddles sculptural form and an enticing dreamlike narrative.
Dam It (Mezzanine Gallery; Through November 29, 2021)
The Colorado – Big Thompson Project includes 15 dams built to help collect melting snow in the upper Colorado River basin west of the Continental Divide and then help store the water once it has moved to the Eastern Slope. This photographic exhibit focuses on the dams built by the Bureau of Reclamation during the early construction of the Colorado – Big Thompson Project.
