As expected, Houston associate head coach Quannas White has been named as UL's new head men's basketball coach.

White is no stranger to the Cajundome. He and Hollis Price led the St. Augustine Purple Knights to a Class 5A state crown in Lafayette before White played for two seasons at Midland Junior College and then rejoined Price at Oklahoma from 2001-03.

White played for coach Kelvin Sampson at Oklahoma and now he’s coaching under Sampson at Houston. He was hired there in April 2017 and moved to associate head coach in June 2023.

Prior to college coaching, White spent eight years leading the Louisiana Dynasty AAU program, which no doubt increased his recruiting ties in the state.
