RICHLAND, Wash.–The Richland Police Department responded to multiple DUI incidents last night.

Officers responded to a car vs. motorcycle incident shortly before 8 p.m., and the motorcycle driver died from injuries, according to the Richland Police Department . The other driver involved in the collision was driving under the influence and booked into jail for vehicular homicide.

The collision, on SR 240 near Horn Rapids, involved a Washington State Patrol trooper, who is now booked in the Benton County Jail, RPD says. The trooper is placed on a 72-hour hold, and the case will be reviewed by the Benton County Prosecutor's Office when the investigation is complete.

A collision on SR 224 took place at the same time, resulting in one death, according to RPD.

Around 1:30 a.m. later last night, one officer attempted to stop a truck for suspicion of DUI at the McMurray Park Apartments, according to RPD. The driver fled on foot, but multiple officers were conducting extra patrols at the Uptown Plaza, so the man was quickly located climbing fences and arrested.

Officers discovered he was intoxicated and he was arrested for DUI, as well as multiple other charges, RPD says. The man struggled with officers during his arrest and was placed in a WRAP device before officers booked him in jail.

Multiple reports about racing came in last night, but because of the DUI arrests and investigations, RPD was unable to attend to those reports but will be conducting extra patrols and projects aimed to reduce dangerous driving.
