COLUMBIA FALLS — Zeke Dunn pitched a complete game, allowing three hits, one earned run and fanned 10 batters as the Columbia Falls Wildcats won their 11th straight game, beating the Polson Pirates 2-1 at the Sapa-Johnsrud Invitational Friday. The Wildcats (16-1) plated both their runs in the third inning when Cooper Ross and Reggie Sapa singled before Jett Pitts hit a 2-run double. Pitts added a single in the sixth inning as Columbia Falls were held to four hits. Polson (14-6) collected four hits as well, with Wyatt Wadsworth providing the only run and RBI on a solo home run in the fourth inning. Landon Shoemake, Brayson DuMont and Cole Haggard each had a hit. Cole Wadsworth started for the Pirates, allowing three hits, two earned runs and striking out eight across three innings. Shoemake came in relief and pitched the final three innings, allowing one hit and no earned runs. Holden Emerson singled home two runs in the first inning and added another base hit to finish with three RBIs as Polson won their first game of the Sapa-Johnsrud Invitational over the Eureka Lions in six innings. Landon Pablo started on the bump for the Pirates, allowing three hits and no earned runs, walking five. Carson Emerson pitched the final three frames, giving up two hits and no earned runs. DuMont, Noah Agliano and AC Courville drove in two runs each. Colin Hickman went 2-for-2 and scored a run for the Lions (11-5) who scored both their runs on an error in the first inning. Logan Cuffe, Leif Burow and G Casas added singles as the Lions were held without an extra-base hit. Eureka remains the second seed out of the North A and will host Missoula Big Sky in a state play-in game Monday at 4:30 p.m. The Whitefish Bulldogs scored all their runs in the first inning, highlighted by Carter Godsey’s RBI double, and held on to beat the Frenchtown Broncs. The Bulldogs (14-4) collected six of their nine walks in the bottom half of the first, with five of them coming around to score. Max Barone walked twice, singled and scored a run. Calvin Eisenbarth added an RBI and a run scored. It was a rare loss for the Broncs (17-3), who have qualified for the state tournament next week in Hamilton. Gabe Gibbs went 3-for-3 with two runs scored and two doubles. Cash Mickey singled home a run in the first inning and added another to finish with two RBIs. Reese Earp hit a 3-run homer to tie the game at seven in the seventh inning, before Joe Hixon drove in the winning run on a sacrifice fly to complete the Corvallis Blue Devils comeback win over the Bigfork Vikings. Earp added a double and finished with five RBIs and two runs scored. Owen Marston collected two hits and scored two runs for the Blue Devils (6-11) out of the leadoff spot. Ryeln Rodriguez paced the Vikings (11-6) offense with two hits, three RBIs and two runs scored. Hayden Mayer added two hits and drove in two. Hunter Jantzen was credited with the loss after coming in relief for 2 1-3 innings, allowing six hits, six runs; four of them earned. Bigfork has a state play-in game at Hamilton Monday.
