SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — The Giants came from behind to beat the Padres, 7-4, on Sunday at Scottsdale Stadium.

Batter’s box: The Padres scored all three of their runs in the third inning, with Connor Joe doubling in a run, another scoring on a wild pitch and Yuli Gurriel doubling in another run. Mason McCoy also doubled and walked in a 1-for-3 game. … Every starter had at least one hit. … Gurriel’s double was his second of the spring. He is hitting .267/.313/.400 through seven games. … Joe (.235/.435/.353) and McCoy (.204/.278/.245) both have two doubles. … Gavin Sheets (.197/.207/.464) came off the bench and homered a second day in a row, this time off a left-hander in Enny Romero , who hasn’t been in the big leagues since 2018.

pushing his spring ERA to 8.68. … Pivetta struck out three batters and retired the last eight hitters he faced after a 26-pitch first inning. … Jeremiah Estrada allowed his first run of the spring, giving walking one and allowing two hits in two-thirds of an inning. … Kevin Kopps struck out two in two-thirds of an inning. … Tom Cosgrove pitched a scoreless eighth inning.

Extra bases: Pivetta would have allowed a run in the first inning, but Heliot Ramos stumbled and tumbled over as he rounded third base on Willy Adames’ double. That gave the Padres plenty of time for a relay from center fielder Brandon Lockridge to shortstop Tyler Wade to McCoy to get Ramos at third base. … Throwing errors compounded Waldron’s struggles in the sixth inning. Catcher Brett Sullivan’s back-pick got away from Trenton Brooks at first base and minor leaguer Jake Snider’s throw back into the infield from right field was also errant.

On deck: Right-hander Michael King makes his second Cactus League start on Monday against the Cincinnati Reds in Peoria. First pitch is at 1:10 p.m.
