The Jacksonville Police Department has made an arrest in connection with a Monday afternoon shooting homicide, the agency announced.

A man named Kilan Brown was arrested and charged in the death of Kente Williams, according to a news release from the Police Department.

At 3:29 p.m., Monday, officers responded to 304 Bellevue Circle in reference to shots fired. When they arrived, the officers found Williams in a hallway suffering from a gunshot wound.

Williams died at the scene.

The ensuing investigation identified Brown, who had been in a fight with Williams before the shooting, according to the release.

Police said Brown fled the scene but was was located and questioned during their investigation.

Brown has been charged with capital murder, aggravated residential burglary, aggravated assault, carrying certain prohibited weapons and first degree criminal mischief.
