After a whirlwind offseason filled with Super Bowl celebrations, high-profile free-agent signings, and the 2025 NFL Draft , football fans are finally getting closer to seeing their favorite teams in action again. Though actual games are still a few months away, excitement is already building as the NFL teases its upcoming schedule by leaking matchups ahead of the full release on Wednesday night.

Among the most anticipated events will be the NFL debut of Travis Hunter . The former Colorado Buffaloes standout and Heisman Trophy winner was selected No. 2 overall by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Hunter made history as the highest-drafted cornerback and second-highest-drafted wide receiver in NFL history. He won eight major national awards, including the Heisman, Walter Camp, Bednarik, and Biletnikoff, and became the most decorated player in college football history.

Hunter’s first NFL game will be a high-profile affair in Jacksonville. According to FOX Sports' Jordan Schultz, the Jaguars will host the Carolina Panthers in their season opener.

The game is expected to draw major attention as it pits Hunter against Panthers quarterback and fellow Heisman winner Bryce Young . The coaching storyline also adds intrigue. Jaguars head coach Liam Coen and Panthers head coach Dave Canales both previously served as offensive coordinators for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers .

Hunter will also face his former CU teammate, Jimmy Horn Jr., who was a draft pick for the Panthers this year.

The Jaguars will also take the international stage, facing the Los Angeles Rams at Wembley Stadium in London on October 19. This Week 7 clash adds to a challenging slate for Jacksonville, which includes games against several playoff teams from 2024.

Jacksonville's home schedule features tough opponents, including Kansas City, Los Angeles Chargers , and division rivals Houston and Tennessee. On the road, the Jaguars face challenging matchups against teams like the Bengals, 49ers , and Broncos. The return to the state of Colorado for Hunter has yet to be announced, but will be highly anticipated.

While the NFL has yet to release the full schedule with official dates and times, Wednesday night's primetime reveal promises to fill in the final details.

For the Jaguars, next season marks the start of Hunter's era in Jacksonville. The generational talent is ready to make his mark on the league.
