WEST VIRGINIA (WCHS) — Two people were killed in separate fires over the weekend in West Virginia, investigators said.

The first fire was reported about 5 p.m. in the 100 block of Lynwinn Road near Coal City, according to a news release from the West Virginia State Fire Marshal’s Office.

An adult woman was removed from the structure and taken to a local hospital before being transferred to a burn center in Pittsburgh, Pa., where she later died, the news release said.

The second fire was reported about noon in the Falling Waters area of Berkeley County on Sunday.

Investigators said the body of an adult man was found in the debris of the fire along Narrow Lane. The victim’s body was sent to the West Virginia Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy and identification.

Both fires are currently under investigation by the West Virginia State Fire Marshal’s Office.
