Pack your bags and hit the rails at the local museum "where a miniature world of wonder awaits."

More than 150,000 visitors have enjoyed scene after scene of model railroads at this indoor museum. The Colorado Model Railroad Museum provides a look into the Oregon, California, and Eastern Railway and a restored Colorado and Southern Railway Caboose for visitors to step inside and tour.

The Colorado Model Railroad Museum is truly "Colorado’s largest 5,500 square foot operating model railroad delighting visitors with its scenic views."

Tickets range from $5-$10, with children 3 and under entering for free. Before you head to the museum, review the COVID-19 guidelines to ensure everyone's safety. Museum tickets must be purchased online before you plan to visit.

The Colorado Model Railroad Museum has planned holiday events just right for you and your family. The holiday display, featuring Department 56 holiday village buildings, captures your heart as you view the town scenes during regular museum hours. Or join one of these special events where you can read your Christmas wish list to Santa over Zoom and get your family photo taken in front of the beautifully decorated 1919 Christmas Caboose.

Holiday events at the Colorado Railroad Museum:

  • November 28 (10:00 a.m.): Zoom With Santa
  • December 12 (5:00-7:00 p.m.): Zoom With Santa For Night Trains

The first time my family visited the museum, we enjoyed a Star Wars-themed event. Staff created a scavenger hunt throughout the museum to find iconic characters from the Star Wars movies. Browse through the photo gallery of intricate scenes across the indoor rolling hills.

The museum also offers youth, scout, and education programs to engage young minds. After-school programs, special projects, and even LEGO Robotics programs provide advanced learning opportunities for youth of all ages.
