The Maryland Terrapins and Cornell Big Red get set to battle it out in the final lacrosse game of the season in the 2025 NCAA Men’s Lacrosse National Championship Game.

The Terrapins enter the national championship game following a 14-8 thrashing of the Syracuse Orange in the semifinals on Saturday, while the Big Red had to pull out an 11-9 win over the Penn State Nittany Lions.

The Terps are in the final four for the 30th time in program history, marking the team’s fourth trip to the semifinals in five years. Maryland fell short of winning the Big Ten Championship, losing to Ohio State, but bounced back in the national tournament.

The Terrapins are in the championship game for the second year in a row, and 14th time in the team’s history, looking to win a first national title for the first time in three years, and the fifth time in program history.

It might have been a few years, but this Big Red team looks capable of running the show. The No. 1 team in the country has been tough to stop this season, winning the program’s first Ivy League Championship in seven years. Entering the national tournament for the third time in four years, Cornell got through the quarterfinals with a dramatic win over Richmond.

This is the Big Red’s first trip to the final four since 2022, the last time the team made it to the national title game. In the program’s sixth championship game, Cornell vies for its first championship since 1977.
