ESPN announced the return of the Winter X Games for the 20th consecutive year, January 29-31, 2021.

The Winter X Games Aspen 2021 will happen on Buttermilk Mountain, where almost a hundred of the best athletes will compete in 14 different sports activities, including SuperPipe, Slopestyle, Big Air, and Men's Knuckle Huck. Chloe Kim, Shaun White, Kelly Sildaru, and Gus Kenworthy are all listed among the invited athletes.

While the lists of athletes and events are complete, there will be something missing this year. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, fans will not be present at the Winter X Games Aspen 2021, and the events will be "produced with comprehensive COVID-19 risk mitigation protocols in place for participants and staff."

"New to the event will be a virtual experience, bringing the excitement of X Games Aspen to fans at home. The immersive and interactive environment will allow fans to build custom avatars, where they can explore and discover X Games content, interact with sponsors, play games and enter for a chance to win prizes," said ESPN.

The full Winter X Games Aspen 2021 will be shown live on ESPN, ESPN2, and ABC. It's estimated that more than 13 hours of live competition will be streamed this year.

Like many events in 2020, this will be one of the first events you can attend in 2021 in your pajamas and loungewear. Cheer on your favorite athletes and keep scores from the comfort of your living room.
